Predicts A's Move Denied
Kansas City AP John D Maguire chairman of the City Council baseball committee says American League owners should have no complaints about Kansas City once they read two lease proposals made to Charles O Finley owner of the Athletics. Each owner was furnished a copy of the two proposals. Our attendance has been way up this year he said It has always been ahead of the team's standing in the league. The A's drew 411281 through the first 38 home dates compared to 286654 for the same number dates in 1962. This reverses an eight year downward trend in attendance. The club has never finished above sixth place. Maguire predicted the league's October meeting again will reject Finley's attempts to move. We'll have the same two contracts waiting for him then Maguire said.
