Powder Puff Derby Near Finish in Tennessee
Weary officials and an overworked computer awaited the finale of the 19th annual Powder Puff Derby in Chattanooga. Seventy-one planes completed the 2400 mile race from El Cajon to Tennessee, with a Florida investment broker and a seven time champ from California tied in the running. A computer will determine the winner by actual flying times and plane ratings as weather and delays complicate scores.
