Franklin County Jail reports seven arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday arresting James L Fermyn 46 on a failure to appear warrant Marcus D Martin 27 for battery unlawful possession of prescription drugs and depressants Devon N Wimberly 26 on a warrant Cody J Wesen 19 for battery and criminal damage to property Elias D Fowler 21 on an Ottawa warrant location details include 600 block of South Burroughs and 200 block of South Locust Street.

Obituary for Elvin E. Dillon 87 of Baldwin City Kansas

Elvin E Dillon known as Babe, 87, of Baldwin City Kansas died Monday July 4 2011. Graveside services will be 2 p m Friday July 8 2011 at Washington Creek Cemetery in rural Douglas County with Chaplain Chuck Murphy officiating. He was born November 6 1923 in Richland to Thomas L and Rosa Turner Dillon and served as a 1st Lt in the US Army during World War II earning the American Theater Ribbon WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He married Clarice LaVergne Flora December 18 1945 in Baldwin City and they shared 60 years of marriage until her death in 2006. He worked for a Woolworth store in Ottawa and later co owned Butell Dillon Milk Hauling and Franklin County Sale Barn before becoming owner operator of Franklin County Sale Barn retiring in 1992. He was a long time member of the American Legion Lloyd Beaton Post 228 and also belonged to the Elks Lodge of Ottawa. Survivors include sons Tom Dillon and Dallas Dillon and three grandchildren Slade Travis Dina and more. Military rites will be given by the American Legion. The family will receive friends 12:30 to 1:30 p m Friday at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home Baldwin City. Funeral processions leave the funeral home at 1:30 p m with attendees meeting at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas. Memorials may be left at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home or mailed to P O Box 64 Baldwin City Kansas 66006. Theft and vandalism reports in Ottawa incidents

Police describe theft from a vehicle on Locust Street involving a 21 year old Ottawa man and a vehicle vandalism on Cottonwood. A 19 year old Ottawa man Cody J Wesen was later arrested on suspicion of car damage.

Fire Crews Respond to Injury Crash on West Wilson Street

Ottawa Fire Department rushed to a motor vehicle accident at West Wilson Street and North Main at 10:19 AM Tuesday. Injuries were reported, with responders securing the scene and providing aid. Fire units assisted until authorities cleared the area.

Joe A Yockey Jr age 89 of Ottawa Kansas died Saturday July 2 2011 a graveside service July 8 Highland Cemetery Rev Barb Clinger officiating. He was born February 18 1922 in Quenemo Kansas and married Pauline Streebin in 1945. He worked forty years as carpenter and contractor in Ottawa and Lawrence and served in the U S Navy 1942 1948. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of VFW Elks Masons and American Legion.
