Franklin County recorded a relatively calm Fourth of July with only a few fires reported. Sheriff Rex Bowling noted dry conditions and warned against burning. Fire calls included a barn blaze near Central Heights and several grass fires possibly linked to fireworks, with departments from Lincoln Township, Ottawa Township, and others responding. A major barn fire at a rural Richmond area caused by hay and straw ignition required multiple local fire units, while a county concert near Lane drew several hundred attendees and one complaint.
