Washington AP reports a bill headed for Senate passage would establish the Conquest of Cancer Agency with independent status reporting to the President. It would absorb the NIH Cancer Institute in Bethesda Maryland and pursue causes and cures for all cancers with substantial funding proposed up to 1 billion dollars by 1976. Osawatomie Couple Killed in Train Crash
A Missouri Pacific freight train collided with a pickup truck on a county road southwest of Osawatomie Kansas killing William E. Jackson 43 and Roberta Jackson 39. The crash occurred at an unlighted intersection. Jackson died at the scene and his wife died at Paola hospital.

Barney Ledom collects about 200 locks and 1,000 keys at his home on 74 S. Sycamore. He cherishes a whiskey bottle lock engraved Hayner Whiskey and has repaired and mapped many old mechanisms. Ledom buys, cleans, and sometimes makes keys to fit aged locks, including a 1870 Good Luck lock and railroad switches. He hopes to pursue locksmithing someday.
