Buffet preserves Sirloin Stockade legacy with changes

Vestal says Kansas Buffet Company will update the Ottawa location with a new storefront and furnishings while keeping the doors open during overnight renovations. Made from homemade soups and different fish and recipes, the staff remains small. Gift cards from Sirloin Stockades will still be honored. hours stay 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends. The company operates about 100 restaurants in 22 states, and craft beer may come to select locations in the future.

Ottawa High School Grad Completes Air Force Basic Training

Airman 1st Class Jonathan L. Branson graduated from eight weeks of basic training at Joint Base San Antonio Lackland Texas. The program covered discipline values fitness and warfare skills and offers four CCAF credits toward an associate degree. Branson is the son of Bryan and Yvonne Branson and grandson of Janice and Gary Branson of Ottawa. He is a 2015 Ottawa High School graduate.

Navy Sailors Re-enlist During Fleet Week New York Ceremony

More than 40 Sailors Marines and Coast Guardsmen joined in a joint re-enlistment and promotion ceremony May 26 on the 9/11 Memorial plaza in New York City amid Fleet Week New York 2017. Darren Bibens a Navy Gas Turbine Systems Technician first class from Ottawa re-enlisted at the event with Adm Phil Davidson presiding. The ceremony involved multiple commands including USS Kearsarge USS San Jacinto USS Monterey USCG New York Public Affairs Detachment Hamilton Lassen Zephyr and Carrier Strike Group Twelve. Fleet Week New York marks 29 years of public viewing of maritime services in the tri state area.

Renate met and married Dale Gordon on January 4 1961 starting a six child family. Seat belt fine increase aids statewide SAFE program

Kansas raises seat belt fines from $10 to $30 for adults not belted in motion with the extra $20 directed to the Seat Belt Safety Fund to expand the SAFE program in all high schools. Miami County job fair slated for Paola Wednesday

The 2017 Southeast KANSASWORKS job fair runs 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Paola High School gymnasium 401 N Angela Drive Paola.
