California recalls watermelons amid nationwide illness scare
California health officials ordered a statewide recall after 21 illnesses linked to green melons and 15 to 17 cases tied to striped melons in Oregon and Washington. The recall halted sales during the Fourth of July peak as authorities warned consumers not to eat already purchased melons. No deaths reported. symptoms included nausea diarrhea and dizziness.
