Wolf Creek Delayed Six Months to a Year
KEPCO officials told the Kansas Corporation Commission that the Wolf Creek nuclear plant near Burlington will push back its 1983 start to six to eleven months later, raising total cost from about 1.3 billion to perhaps 1.5 billion. The delay stems from construction problems and a slow NRC license process, affecting a 17 percent KEPCO stake in the project shared with Wichita-based Kansas Gas and Electric and Kansas City Power and Light.
