Topeka hosts Shrine Bowl return at Washburn U in 2013
The 40th Kansas Shrine Bowl returns to Topeka on July 27 at Yager Stadium, reviving a 13 year absence. The East-West all star game last played here in 2000, with the East winning 21 14, as towns including Manhattan Wichita Hays Pittsburg and Emporia hosted in recent years. The Shawnee County Sports Council led the push, praising Washburn and Arab Shrine backing, while facilities on campus have upgraded since 2000. The East hopes to break a four game Topeka streak by the West and showcase regional campuses and new developments at Washburn.
