Birdhouse auction for Independence draws top bids
An Ottawa designed birdhouse by Jan Wallace and built by Neil Baker sold for 1000 dollars at a fundraiser for Building Independence, a supported housing project of the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center in Lawrence. Steven Bruner of Lawrence bought the top bid and two designer pieces were donated back to a park. Smaller houses ranged from 20 to 40 dollars. Wallace plans to submit another birdhouse for the 1994 auction.
