YMCA fundraising boosted by $200000 tax credits
The Ottawa Community Partnership Inc and Ottawa University plan an $8.7 million YMCA facility in Ottawa. The Kansas Department of Commerce awarded OCPI 200000 in tax credits, among 22 of 74 applicants, to aid fundraising and project completion. Construction could begin after full funds are raised, with a ribbon cutting targeted for 2013.

Franklin County defunds history group talks in 2011 budget
Franklin County officials debated cutting funding for the Franklin County Historical Society noting it is not a county function. Ed Taylor said the board considered eliminating county support. in 2011 the society received about $81,000 of its $121,000 budget from the county.
