Lawyer Defends Meese’s Blind Trust Arrangement
Washington AP. Meese III’s attorney insists none of his money via a $60,000 limited blind partnership with Wedtech figure W Franklyn Chinn was invested in Wedtech stock, while ethics chief David Martin says the trust was not approved and violated disclosure rules. Congressional subcommittee head Gerry Sikorski calls the setup outside the law as independent counsel James McKay probes potential conflicts of interest amid Meese’s 1982 bid for a $32 million no bid Wedtech contract.
