Revenue In Arrears Fiscal Year Tax Receipts Decline
The state fiscal year totals show $582.15 million from individual income tax and $489.53 million from sales tax, with declines in direct taxes offset by small gains in others. Overall tax intake dropped $951,000 from FY 1995, driven by weaker income and severance taxes amid a slow economy, while cigarette and sales taxes rose. June collections lagged 1985, mainly due to a $7.3 million shortfall in individual income tax.
