Child Care Registration Begins Under New Kansas Law
Beginning today, July 1, all child care providers caring for one to six children under 16 must register with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Secretary Joseph Harkins announced the measure from the 1980 Legislature requiring a home safety evaluation with the registration, with forms available through the Franklin County Health Department. Licensees may opt to license or register if caring for six or fewer children, and licensed family day care providers may switch to registration or stay with licensing at license expiry.
