Gennifer Flowers, who alleged a 12 year affair with Gov. Bill Clinton, was fired from the Arkansas Appeal Tribunal for three days of absence. The board cited abandonment of her job as the reason. the governor’s office said it had no involvement. Flowers earned $17,000 yearly as administrative assistant. She had given paid interviews to the Star tabloid reportedly totaling $130,000 to $175,000. Clinton has denied any sexual relationship.
Russell High School teacher Marcia Brock lost a bid to regain her job after a month long disappearance tied to beliefs in UFOs. An appeals committee unanimously upheld her firing as her absence spanned 38 days of classes. Brock’s representative and Brock declined comment.

Gov. Joan Finney asked the Legislature to approve an executive order to divide the state Department of Health and Environment into two separate agencies. The plan, tied to her State of the State address, would create cabinet‑level heads for health and for environment, with July 1 as the effective date absent a 60‑day rejection.
No jackpot won in Wednesdays Lotto America drawing, boosting the Saturday estimate to 4 million. Kansas Cash Lotto and Reno drawings also had no winners, with Kansas Cash Lotto at about 65 thousand next, and the prior night values around 50 thousand.
Rev. Earl Zimmerman of Faith Lutheran Church announced plans to retire as pastor on July 1 after 27 years with the congregation. He said he will serve as interim pastor for churches in Kansas and possibly Missouri Synod district. The Board of Elders will begin selecting a successor. Zimmerman's 27th anniversary at Faith Lutheran falls in March.
