Duffle Family to Receive Kansas Conservation Award
Mr and Mrs Andy Duffle of the A D Ranch near Pomona will be honored for outstanding conservation at the Franklin County Conservation District meeting at Celebration Hall. The 1700 acre ranch sits in a reinforced concrete 12 inch thick walled white stucco house built by the Duffles in 1967 after ownership by the Hudson Oil Co and the Usher family. The Usher family lineage ties to John Palmer Usher a former Secretary of the Interior who helped guide Lincoln era expansion and held the Pomona acreage West of town until his death in 1889. The story recalls the long local heritage and a Lincoln autograph book once owned by Linton Usher.
