Longtime farmer turns to conservation at Ottawa area farm
Jim and Patsy Kiefer of Burlington manage a family farm west of Ottawa since 1920. After a USDA career, Kiefer designed waterway and terrace systems with the NRCS. Two thirds of cropland are no till, aiding erosion control. the couple host KSU agronomy research and promote buffer strips and timberland work. They won a Franklin County Conservation District Bankers Award.
