Wildlife Parks trail fees and first 18 mile phase opening
KDWP plans a 50 mile Prairie Spirit Rail Trail from Ottawa to Iola with most of its span in Anderson County, though development beyond the county stalls. A grand opening for phase one is set for March 30 in Gannett, with phase two deferred due to lack of support from Franklin County commissioners. A new park ranger will soon start duties at Santa Fe Depot in Gannett as the first section nears completion. Free park use days are planned on June 8 and 9.
