Court Rejects Tucker Clemency Appeal In Texas Case
The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals refused to halt Karla Faye Tucker's execution, ruling clemency is an executive matter. Tucker, 38, is scheduled for lethal injection next Tuesday for the 1983 pickax killing in Houston, a case drawing national attention as she argues personal transformation through religion. The Board of Pardons and Paroles must recommend clemency by majority, after which Gov. Bush could spare her life.
