Kemp aims to end co-insurance housing program
Housing Secretary Jack Kemp announced the end of the co-insurance program created in 1983 to back loans for low income housing. He said it was structurally flawed and financially unsound, and proposed full insurance on new commitments with lenders paid a set fee. Kemp urged regulatory steps from Jan. 17 and tied the move to broader growth and urban development plans.
