Award winner says he was just doing what the land needed
Anaward accepts for outstanding grassland conservation from Franklin County Conservation District and SEYH Farm Seed Co. at the district 66th annual meeting. Steinberger, who owns 500 acres west of Richmond, uses a 30 day grazing rotation, spring burning, and rebuilt ponds to conserve water and improve pasture. He and his wife Marge bought the land eight years ago and live there four years, building a metal house last year. He plans a wildlife habitat tree program and keeps seeking conservation advice.
