Buildex Plant Aims To Cut Pollution And Beautify Site
Buildex plant south of Ottawa started a 1951 build, expanded last year, with pollution controls for air and water. Signs mark danger zones, rewiring, noise control with muffed hearing, and truck tarps reduce dust. older plant cleanup and land reclamation improve soil, aesthetics, and conservation. Executive VP Dennis Woolman says emissions are minimal, mostly steam, and aims to have most pollution under control by next year.

Conservation nets fruit and fish on Coffman farm
Wellsville farmer Lester Coffman and his wife practice conservation to curb soil erosion and create recreation. Eight ponds on 423 acres supply bass crappie bluegill and more while a fruit tree orchard bears July to September crops. Coffman improved pasture with fescue and timely mowing and terraces though he reduced required terraces. He plans another pond next year.

The Franklin County Soil Conservation District will hold its annual meeting Thursday January 27 at the Memorial Auditorium.
