Kills After An Argument In South Bend
A 46 year old South Bend man, Peter Verselder, killed his wife Ann with a bullet through the right eye and wounded his 19 year old daughter Mary Lou five times during a dispute over his driving his wife's car. He held police outside his home until tear gas forced him out and he was questioned. Nancy and Kathleen, ages 13 and 6, escaped unharmed while Mary Lou was in Memorial Hospital in good condition with wounds to the right cheek, breast, abdomen, hand and arm.
