Ottawa trio sign with two colleges in one ceremony
Three Ottawa High School seniors Kaden Shaffer Greyson LaPlant and Taylor Graf signed letters of intent together in the school library. Shaffer will attend Fort Scott Community College while LaPlant and Graf will join Pratt Community College. They starred on Babe Ruth state champion teams and the Huskies third place squad last season.

Kansas State, hampered by poor outside shooting and 30 attempts from three, dropped a 59 to 55 decision at home to Kansas. Jayhawks center Jeff Withey and guard Ben McLemore led with 11 points each as Kansas extended its winning streak to 16 while the Wildcats saw their home win streak end. Shane Southwell poured in a career high 19 for K State, but late 3s failed to tilt the outcome.

Ottawa High School fell 39 to 24 as Hayden used a suffocating full court press to force turnovers. Coach Cliff McCullough lamented limited execution against stronger teams and a lack of confidence as Ottawa struggled to push the ball and attack the paint. Tyra Lyday led Ottawa with nine points while Hayden’s Lenhert topped the scoreboard.
