Coal Hauling To Be Costly in Kansas Pipeline Bid
A Kansas Senate panel heard that rising railroad coal haul costs will raise electricity prices. Howard Cowan, former Oklahoma Public Service Co executive, testified that coal from Wyoming to a plant near Oolagah rose from 7.87 to 13.28 dollars per ton since 1975 and could climb further. Houston Power and Light estimates an extra 23 million dollars annual bill for customers.
