Venting Efforts Under Way as Hutchinson Gas Bubble Studied
Geologists in Hutchinson Kansas press venting to release a deep gas bubble. Sofergaz U.S. Inc. engineer Joe Ratigan says the volume and pressure are unknown delaying vent timing. Two vent wells are drilled with one to hit a gas zone while other sources like old wells and sinkholes are being evaluated. Mayor McCreary notes geysers have diminished since a salt cavern leak was plugged. Time will reveal gas origins and pathways to surface.
