House Will Get Right On Reapportionment

In Topeka Kansas the Senate reapportionment plan led by Sen. Jack Robinson of Wichita becomes the House’s first Monday business. Several Republicans oppose the four multi member senatorial districts though Governor Docking may veto. If vetoed only one GOP vote could sustain it. 41 Democrats could oppose overriding. Three Republicans Hall Roniger and Harper oppose the plan citing fair representation and one man one vote concerns. Harper warns urban minority groups are disadvantaged by multi member districts affecting school board elections and the 40 district composition.
