Baldwin won 64 to 24 over Wellsville as the Bald win girls shifted control after the second quarter. Kari Garrison scored 19 and Emily Brown added 16 for Baldwin, while Wellsville managed only 14 points in the final three periods.
Senior Wendy Moore led the Wellsville girls with seven points as Baldwin edged past them 64 to 24. Skaggs Martin Pringle Garrison Haris Brown Ogle Miles shared scoring for Baldwin while Carpenter Moss Barthol Patton Raecker added for Wellsville.
Angela Tipton fouled out as Williamsburg faced a triangle two defense from the Warriors, slowing Hallie Lee. Sarah Selenke scored 23 as Williamsburg rallied from a 33-25 deficit to tie late, then Crest looms in an early game tomorrow.
La Cygne Ottawa area wrestlers place in the top four. Rick Croucher 189 pounds placed second with a 3-1 record after a finals loss. Blaine Angell 103 finished third at 3-1. Michael Espinosa 215 took fourth at 2-2. JV wrestlers Levi Bowen 215 Shawn Rybolt 189 and Chris Mikeson 112 also earned podium spots at Miege. Ottawa meets Blue Springs tonight in Missouri. Justin Shay earns first career wrestling medal at Tonganooxie Invite with 2nd at 160, Kyle Gorton 3rd 12-4 at 160, Bob Burgett 4th 2-2. Erik Platt 1-2.
OMS boys remain unbeaten with a 39 to 28 win over Paola as Derek Huddleston and Brandon Turner each score six. Ottawa improves to 4-0 while the eighth grade falls 49 to 22 led by Freddie Adamson with six and Jordan Miller four. Both Ottawa teams travel to Bonner Springs on Thursday.
