Woman saves co-worker in choking incident
Kandace Wheeler a Sodexo barista in Ottawa University dining center rescued Lynetta Logan from a choking episode. Logan began coughing and Wheeler performed the Heimlich maneuver successfully dislodging the blockage. Logan recovered and Wheeler urged swift action in such emergencies.

Downtown bar expands service in Ottawa area
O Town Cocktails and Billiards at 128 S Main St Ottawa adds a full diner menu. Owner Dana Coopey says the bar now operates as O Town Cocktails Burgers and Billiards with burgers fries and new chicken entrees and plans lunch service within 30 days.

Franklin County to wrap five year chip and seal plan in 2018
Franklin County will complete its five year rotation in 2018 by sealing 206 miles of hard surface roads. The Board of Commissioners approved bids for the final 50 miles of the chip and seal project and paving. Public Works Director Jim Haag said 40 miles were sealed annually in prior years, with this year finishing the rest. He noted the plan moves counter clockwise with major segments on Old Highway 50, Colorado Road, and Kingman Terrace Labette Road.
