The issue follows a Supreme Court ruling upholding the 2001 Childrens Internet Protection Act and FCC deadlines. Board members say they seek balance between protecting children and preserving free information. Several say they oppose filters, arguing they block access to non obscenity related sites and impinge on free speech.
