Referendum Considered On Milk Checkoff in 1983 Act
Public comments are invited by the Agriculture Department on extending the national dairy research and promotion checkoff program funded by 15 cents per 100 pounds of milk. The program expires Sept 30 1995 unless renewed. A 36 member board oversees it with about $200 million yearly, mostly for state promotions and ads including new Health Kick TV spots aimed at ages 16 to 34.
