Strike Ends At Santa Anita After Five Day Closure
Arcadia California AP report says Santa Anita Park, shut five racing days by a strike, will reopen Tuesday after a weekend settlement. A 12 hour bargaining session produced a three year contract with 75 cent daily pay increases now, another in a year and a third the following year. About 1,400 workers at this and other tracks gain a $2.25 package, covering pari mutuel staff, janitors, guards, gate crews, ushers, assistant starters, jockey valets and veterinary assistants.
