Circuit breaker plans rise in Kansas session
Kansas legislators unveiled a 70 million circuit-breaker proposal to aid small businesses and homeowners facing steep property tax increases. The plan would tax 25 percent of property tax savings for qualifying businesses and raise funds by removing a mail-order exemption and accelerating certain tax collections. It also reserves 17 million for homeowners and 40 million for property tax relief, while a second plan seeks 82 million for a commercial circuit-breaker and 11 million for residential relief.
