City Uses High Pressure Water to Replace Downtown Sewer
The city adopts a jet water method to replace a deep aging sewer line along Hickory between First and Fifth streets. Contractor can complete a one block replacement in about 10 hours, avoiding months of excavation. The old line leaks sewage and draws in other pollution, affecting the treatment plant. The new plastic pipe, pushed into place by hot water jet, minimizes disruption.
