Markets Dip on Capital One Warning Amid Subprime Worries
Stocks moved lower on concerns that Capital One's 2007 profit will miss estimates due to higher loan delinquencies and larger loan loss reserves. The warning renewed fears that subprime weaknesses spread to other credit areas and could dampen upcoming earnings reports. Dow fell 86.09 to 12,649.22 while S&P 500 and Nasdaq slipped. Oil and labor data offered mixed signals as rates hold decisions loomed.
