Ottawa High School built a 40 25 halftime lead and never surrendered it as junior Jacob Sipple drilled a school record eight three pointers en route to 26 points. Victor Ojeleye matched 23 with Ian Mathews adding 16 as Ottawa used outside shooting and rebounding to defeat Wellsville 76 53.
Ottawa defeated Wellsville 45 to 24 after a defensive battle. Ottawa surged with a 18-0 third quarter run while Wellsville stalled with only one field goal after the early minutes, relying on free throws as their offense struggled. Coach Cliff McCullough lamented the lack of scoring and intensity.
Central Heights rallied from a double digit deficit to force overtime but lost 44 to 34 on the road. Gus Wuertz led with five quick points and Brett Adkinson drained a late three as Jordan Welch delivered the tying layup. Wuertz Adkinson Welch scored for Central Heights. Eudora's Morgan Abel Boyer Abel White contributed.
Osage City hosts Pomona in a boys basketball game. Osage led 40 28 at halftime and held on to win 68 59 as Pomona struggled to close the gap in the second half. Pomona coach Brock Campbell Lee comments on first half defensive lapses.
