Stampede at Harare airport during Zhao Ziyang visit claims five lives
A crowd of about 5,000 surged toward an airport gate in Harare as Chinese Premier Zhao Ziyang arrived for a three day visit. Five women were killed and 64 injured in the stampede. Police regained control before official ceremonies. Zhao and Prime Minister Mugabe did not witness the tragedy.
