Ethel Goff of 1522 S Hickory is hospitalized at Trinity Lutheran Hospital Kansas City for an extended stay and would appreciate visits.

The Veterans Administration rejected claims that James Kutcher aided enemies and said it would keep paying his $329 monthly compensation for loss of his legs from World War II. Kutcher testified under oath at an open hearing on December 30 in Newark, denying statements aiding Communist China and North Korea during the Korean War despite admitting Socialist Workers party membership.
Jordan settles after weekend rioting against the Baghdad pact as Samir El Rifai becomes premier and Ibrahim Hashem deputy premier in the new cabinet. Damascus reports fatal shootings and protests in Amman and Jerusalem, with Western embassies guarded and U.S. officials urging protection of Americans.
Gov Fred Hall names Creola Charles Baker of Pratt as coordinator of women's activities in the Kansas Highway Department traffic safety division. A 12 member women's coordinating committee on traffic safety was also formed led by Miss Baker, with initial planning in Topeka. Baker will keep an office in Pratt and is praised as a long time traffic safety leader.
A two car collision on U S Highway 75 near Beta Junction Kansas Saturday killed three people and left a fourth critically injured. The deceased were Richard Betsworth 40 of Topeka Alvin Lowe 66 also of Topeka and Mrs Ralph Koppenhaver 57 of Strawn. Mrs Koppenhaver's husband was hospitalized in Emporia with critical injuries. The Koppenhavers were en route to a Melvern Appanoose basketball game when the crash happened. Mrs Koppenhaver was mother in law of Melvern coach Charles Farmer, who was by his ill father in Emporia today.

MONTERREY Mexico three unidentified men are being sought for the Dec 7 murder of Gary A Weis of Salina but no arrests have been made. Nuevo Leon Attorney General Francisco Val dez ordered every available policeman to work on the case. Weis 20 was killed while vacationing in Mexico before entering the U S Army. He was shot from behind. Savings bonds are an investment.
A broken water main cut Abilene water service from 1 30 a m to 6 30 a m yesterday. An estimated 1 percent to 14 million gallons was lost as two 750000 gallon tanks were emptied. The break occurred in the main water line from a pumping station two miles west of the city.
