Obituaries Blanche L. Pinet and Norman Kennard

Blanche L. Pinet of Ottawa 92 died January 5 2002. Services Thursday at Dengel Son Mortuary. She taught 50 years and is survived by daughter Linda Crandall and six brothers. Norman Elmer Kennard 66 died January 5 2002 in Garnett. Funeral Tuesday at First Baptist Church Garnett. He retired after 49 years with United Telephone, survived by three daughters and a son. Memorials to Grace Episcopal Church or Lake Garnett Sporting Club.

Mixed markets as Compaq forecast steadies. Dow slips

U S stocks eased after a better than expected Compaq forecast as investors booked gains from recent rally. The Dow fell 31.41 to 10,228.33, the S&P 500 dropped 4.60 to 1,167.91 and the Nasdaq slid 12.08 to 2,047.30 amid cautious trading and profit taking.
