John Stewart Stew Newlin 88 of Tucson Arizona formerly of Ottawa and Wellington Kansas died January 3 2000 at Summit Hospital Arizona. Services Monday at Day Funeral Home Wellington with Fr Andrew Sealer. He was born October 29 1911 in Wichita Kansas and had a career in journalism and politics including AP Kansas Highway Commission director Gov Carlson aide Eisenhower campaign staff Wellington Daily News editor and publisher. He is survived by a son daughter stepsons brother sister many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment Prairie Lawn Cemetery Wellington. A rosary will be held Sunday evening with visiting hours Saturday and Sunday at Day Funeral Home Memorials to Shattuck School Beta Theta Pi or Seminole Nation Museum.
