Lovers Rescued From Volcano After Suicide Attempt
In Tokyo a 21 year old waitress Setsumi Endo and 22 year old Satoru Takayanagi attempted death by own action by leaping into a volcanic crater. Police and 7 volunteers descended 1000 feet to rescue them. Endo suffered a crushed ankle and blood loss while Takayanagi escaped largely unscathed. They admitted the act was driven by a doomed love and illness and all but Endo survived the descent. The rescue team spent about an hour descending and 500 feet along a lava wall before reaching the couple.

Women Live Longer Better In Nationwide Survey
