Wellsville student makes elite KU list

Shane Haas of Wellsville is among 21 University of Kansas students named to the 14th class of University Scholars for 1994 95. The program selects high achieving undergraduates based on GPA, academic promise, and faculty evaluations with a scholar mentor and mandatory seminar. Haas is a sophomore electrical engineering major guided by mentor Robert E Palazzo. Local students named to SMSU honor roll. Springfield Missouri Southwest Missouri State University released fall 1994 honor roll names Eric S Griffin and David J Testorff from Ottawa for earning at least 3.5 GPA.

GED prep classes begin at Ottawa Adult Education Center

Beginning January 16 the Ottawa Adult Education Center will offer GED preparation with one topic each weekday from 9 to 11 am at 1418 Main Street Suite 4. No class fee. GED test costs 30 full or 6 per section. Space is limited and enrollment is encouraged. For enrollment call 242-6719.

The East Central Kansas Economic Opportunity Corp. will distribute food to eligible Franklin County residents on Monday. Ottawa artist Sutton features at hospital show

Arline Sutton of Ottawa, an artist for 22 years, is highlighted this month in a display at Ransom Memorial Hospital. She retired to pursue long-postponed projects, studying watercolors through the Kansas State University Extension Service and workshops.
