Pomona Wins Grants to Rebuild City Water System
Pomona has secured more than 1.1 million dollars in two grants to overhaul its water system. A 738 500 federal grant and a 400 000 state grant will fund most of the project, plus a 642 300 Rural Development loan. The plan replaces over nine miles of lines, hydrants, and most of the 400 water meters amid aging infrastructure. Mayor Kirk Lauritsen says the town will modernize a system built 70 to 90 years ago and partly sourced water from Melvern Lake via Rural Water District 12.
