Regional rail study weighs Fort Worth to Newton and KC routes
A recent study funded by federal and state partners weighs building nighttime service from Fort Worth to Newton and daytime service from Fort Worth to Kansas City. Using existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks through Kansas and Oklahoma, the plan requires about 403 million dollars in upgrades with separate operating subsidies for each option. The project aims for Amtrak funding, with Kansas and Oklahoma backing a share, and includes potential new stops in multiple Kansas and Oklahoma towns.
