Carlin Reflects On State and Personal Decisions

Gov. John Carlin looks back on 1984 as largely successful with international economic wins and his choice not to run against U.S. Sen. Bob Dole in 1986. He cites planned 1985 legislative goals, praise for his voyages to Asia, and optimism for bipartisan cooperation to propel Kansas economy and tax reforms into the upcoming session.

Goetz Extradition Waiver Heard In New York Case

Merrimack County Jail waived extradition. Goetz faced an ongoing New York case amid a brief hearing where he sat silent with folded hands. Assistant Attorney General Andrew Isaac indicated Goetz had no known criminal record and that premeditation appeared possible, not self defense. Guardian Angels members watched the proceedings and voiced support if not vigilante action. Correction Officer Thomas Barton noted Goetz appeared near tears during processing.
