Emporia State star Emily Bloss, a Wellsville native, earned the 2000 GTE Academic All America District VII first team with a 3.93 GPA in recreation. Wellsville JV finished 46-30 over Prairie View, led by Harlow and Leecy with eight to nine points. Freshmen fell 41-33 to Finish as Rutledge praised effort. Bethel Christian Academy claimed third in the Mid-State Christian League tourney, Ottawa University’s Bob Pritchett coaching.

Auburn star Porter admits taking money from sports agents
Auburn coach Cliff Ellis confirmed star forward Chris Porter admitted to taking 2500 from an agent amid a league wide SEC investigation. Porter said the money was to help prevent his mother’s eviction in Abbeville Alabama. He was suspended after the disclosure and did not practice. Porter averages 14.6 points and 7.3 rebounds for the 21 6 Tigers who were ranked 19th.
