Family roots historian cherishes Ottawa library passion
Louis Reed, Herald connections editor and Ottawa school board member, spends vast hours researching family genealogy at the Ottawa Library. He maintains an office at home with files tracing Franklin County history to 1865, notes ties to Sac and Fox, Oklahoma Land Run, Robert Culp, and German Kansas settlers, and has mapped over 600 descendants of Harrison Reed. He urges history teaching through local newspapers and recalls librarians by name while reflecting that crime and marital woes were long staples of the paper.
