Retirement community loses heat in Kan town
In Ikhita Kansas AP report, Maple Gardens Village suffered a ruptured water line on February 16 leaving 155 residents without water and heat. Heat returned to most buildings within days, but one 15 apartment building remained cold. Residents used space heaters as temperatures dipped into the 20s. By Tuesday, heat was almost fully restored with five residents still affected, and officials expected full restoration by day’s end. Louise Walton contracted bronchitis from the cold, saying her doctor urged heat.
