City weighs updates to flood insurance plan

Ottawa officials tighten flood coverage after study session led by human resources director Michelle Stegman and finance director Scott Bird. The plan would drop coverage in low risk areas, add National Flood Insurance Program coverage to previously uninsured buildings, and protect critical city facilities including water and wastewater plants. The net annual cost remains under the 2016 flood budget at $88,000, with a slight rise of about $1,600.
