Times Globe win Polk Awards honor reporters in 2002
The New York Times and The Boston Globe shared the 2002 George Polk Journalism Awards with multiple winners. Globe reporter Anthony Shadid was shot while in Ramallah, and Globe editors won a national reporting prize for the Catholic Church abuse series. Times staffers claimed honors for regional and health care reporting, while AP writer Michael Luo won for criminal justice coverage. Morley Safer received the career award.
